At
Bray Park State School we use many different forms of assessment to identify
the specific needs of students, monitor student progress, identify whether
intensive support is required, to confirm aspects of student learning or
behaviour and to report on student progress. This assessment may be done
individually, in small groups or with whole classes.
All
assessment is aligned with the targeted content descriptions and achievement
standards of the Australian Curriculum for that year level. Assessment pieces
closely relate to classroom learning and take place as close as possible to the
learning process (assessment is integral to the learning process). Assessment
practices include a range of instruments and techniques. Moderation processes
are used to ensure consistency and accuracy of teacher judgments.
A
moderated assessment task consists of a task sheet and explicit quality
performance criteria and standards which are shared with students and are
easily interpreted by staff and students. Moderation of common assessment tasks
is a quality assurance process and an opportunity to enhance teacher and
community confidence in results. It is evident in all year levels.
Teacher
and parent interviews are offered twice annually, once in Term Two and once
more at parent request. In addition, all teachers conduct a group class
parent/caregiver meeting at the start of each year to discuss classroom
expectations, programs and curriculum.
Bray
Park State School teachers report twice a year in a written format to parents,
at the end of each semester. Like all state schools, we use the common student
report format from the Education Queensland digital platform, OneSchool.
Reports are emailed to parents in the last week of Term 2 and Term 4.
NAPLAN statewide curriculum testing for years 3 and 5 classes
NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 in literacy and numeracy – completed online from 2019. These tests aim to provide details to parents on aspects of literacy and numeracy. They also provide Education Queensland with some indication of how Queensland students are faring against children in other states. A report, which indicates how your child has performed in particular aspects of the test, is forwarded to the school for distribution to parents. If you have any concerns regarding the test results, please contact your child’s teacher.
