Wind Chimes

Prep/1E have been designing and making wind chimes during their Technology lessons.

First they had to do some investigating:

What is a wind chime?

How does it work?

What kinds of things can be used to make a wind chime?

What noise will it make if I use these items or those items?

Do I have to use hard or soft items?

How will I put it together?

The next step was to design their wind chime.  Students had to decide what items to use and how to place them on their wind chime.  They had to draw and label their design.

Students then had to make their wind chime.  This was quite difficult because knots are really hard to tie.  Students spent some time with pieces of rope and became quite confident at tying granny knots.  Even though they were quite good at the knots, on making day Ms Moritz asked Mr Dyer to visit with his 4/5/6E students so that there were helpers for the tricky bits.

Everyone had a wonderful time working together and the wind chimes are magnificent!
