Under 8's Day 2017

Last Thursday 12th October we celebrated our annual Under 8’s Day event.  This year the theme was ‘Children are Playing Country to Coast: Inspiring learning in the early years through play’.  The event is about building partnerships with our local community and allowing children to be the focus as they too are an important part of our community.

This year we had many wonderful activities, including making pet rocks, icing biscuits, making kites, paper plane races, planting seeds, painting, bubble blowing, parachute activities, cricket, face painting and many, many more.  The highlight of the day was when Elmo turned up.  He had travelled all the way from Sesame Street to help us celebrate the day!  The children enjoyed themselves immensely and wanted to know if this event could become more regular.

We were lucky to have the support of our great teachers, Bray Park OSHC, our local kindy Goodstart, the Fire Department, our local Police, Milo Cricket and Bray Park State High School students, all of whom helped us out with everything during the day.    We were also lucky to have some funding and support from Nikki Boyd MP, Mick Gillam our Councillor for Division 8, Bunnings at Brendale and RACQ.  Without the support of these local community members the day wouldn’t have been as successful.
