Remembrance Day 2016

Our Remembrance Day Assembly was held on Tuesday 8 November 2016.  The theme was “Symbols of Remembrance” and the slideshow focussed on the three most popular symbols which we use to remember – rosemary, poppies and crosses.

Legacy Australia, the RSL and the National Servicemen’s League each kindly provided us with guest speakers who explained how their organisation fosters and encourages remembrance in our community.

All of our Defence students were involved in this assembly with some reading on stage, others laying paper poppy wreaths in honour of the 20 RAAF and RNZAF servicemen whose names are inscribed on the memorial stone in our Anzac Garden, and others represented their year level by laying a floral wreath during the ceremony.
The Senior Choir performed a song of peace and remembrance called “This is my Song”, and the Concert Band played the National Anthem to conclude the assembly.
