Letters to the Troops

8/02/2016

Late last year several classes from Prep to Year 6 spent some time writing Christmas Letters to the Troops.  These letters were given to Australian Service Personnel in Afghanistan who were on duty over the Christmas period.

A deployment of Australian Army Band musicians went over to Afghanistan to entertain the servicemen and women who couldn’t come home to spend Christmas with their families.  It was these people who transported the letters for us.
On Christmas Day the Letters to the Troops were handed out and, it was reported, there was much surprise, lots of laughter and the odd tear or two as the soldiers read the messages written by our students.  They all enjoyed the beautiful, bright colouring and drawings too.
So thank you, Bray Park State School students and teachers, for making Christmas a little brighter for our service personnel on duty overseas.  It was a great effort  - over 160 letters went to Afghanistan – and it was greatly appreciated by all who received a letter.
