Indigenous Veterans Ceremony 2016

Mattea Remulta and Noah Williams were both honoured to attend the Indigenous Veterans Ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance in the city.  Bray Park was one of eight schools invited to the event.  When we got there we were welcomed by Darren Curtis who said the Acknowledgement of Country.  After that we heard Aaron Martin play the didgeridoo, twice.  Then we had the pleasure of listening to the guest speaker, Mr John Enchong, a former Indigenous serviceman.  During his speech he said “The bullet sees no colour” which was his way of commenting that no matter what our skin colour, we are all equal and should be treated that way. We placed a wreath at the steps of the Shrine of Remembrance along with other guests before listening to The Ode, the Last Post and standing for a minute silence.  The ceremony ended with the Australian Army Band playing “Advance Australia Fair”.
