Chaplaincy Week

31/05/2012

Chappy Week is an annual event run by SU Qld to raise awareness of the value of school chaplains and to raise funds to support school chaplains. Here at Bray Park we run lots of different activities for the students and the wider community during Chappy Week. This year our Chappy Week activities included:

Chaplaincy Trivia Night Fundraiser
The Local Chaplaincy Committee hosted a Trivia Night to support our Chaplaincy program on Saturday 19th May. Councillor Mick Gillam was our illustrious quiz master for the evening and he tested our knowledge in areas like geography, John Wayne, James Bond and flags of the world. We raised $1875 on the night! This money goes towards providing chaplaincy support for a third day. Local businesses and individuals donated an abundance of prizes and those who attended were overwhelmed by the fantastic prizes up for grabs on the night. The Trivia Night was such a success that we’re already planning for next year!

Staff vs. Students Touch Footy
We had our annual Staff vs. Students touch footy match on the oval at first break. The students as they held the title in 2011The staff fought hard to win back the title from … however, the students were too good this year and beat the staff with a score of 2 tries to 1. Players of the match this year were Pele Vaeagi, Jacob Roberts, Mr Mercer and Ethan Kelly. Thanks to Jeff Howard from SU Qld for coming to ref our game.
We also sold wristbands, had a colouring in competition, spoke about the value of chaplaincy at Rivers Baptist Church, had a Chappy Pancake Breakfast kindly sponsored by Ridgari Pty. Ltd. and attended The Coffee Club Strathpine’s function: “Chip In For Our Chappy”
A very special thanks goes to the Student Council who generously donated $400 towards the Chaplaincy Program during Chappy Week. I’d like to thank all the students for supporting and valuing Chaplaincy in our school.

The Bray Park State School Local Chaplaincy Committee appreciates everyone who supported the Chaplaincy Program during Chappy Week… Thank you!
