Chaplaincy Events

The Bray Park State School Chaplaincy Program has had some amazing opportunities over the past six weeks.

Firstly, we were given the opportunity to speak at the Moreton Bay Regional Council Chaplaincy Fundraising Dinner on Monday 1st September.  Our chaplain, Kirsty Ridgway, spoke about her transition from teaching to chaplaincy and how she loves being able to listen to and support young people and families.  One of our fantastic past students, Stuart, shared his personal and very moving story of how Chappy Kirsty supported him while he attended Bray Park State School and our Deputy Principal, Peter Orphanides, shared his thoughts about the impact that chaplains make on school communities.  We enjoyed sharing our stories with the 300 people who attended this great event.

Mr Orphanides, Chappy Kirsty and Stuart, were then invited to share their stories again on Monday 13th October, at the Scripture Union QLD's annual Frontline Appeal.  This event is Scripture Union's biggest fundraising event and there were around 1100 people in attendance.  It was a privilege for each of us to speak about the way our chaplaincy program supports students and families at Bray Park State School.
