Anzac Commemorations

Student Leaders at Anzac Square
BPSS Anzac Assembly
On Tuesday the 19th of April we had our Anzac Day assembly with guest speaker Mr Doug Butler.  We had great music to listen to like the Advanced Ukulele item and the Senior Choir singing “Can You Hear the Children Marching?”  We also listened to the Year 6 Research team talk about the 2nd Light Horse Regiment.  We laid wreaths made by the staff.  We were happy to see so many people attend the assembly, and I am privileged to be one of the people who lead the assembly.

Student Leaders Service in Anzac Square
On Thursday, 21st April, I was very lucky and felt greatly honoured to attend an Anzac Day Commemoration at Anzac Square with fellow student leaders from South East Queensland Schools. We saw the eternal flame and placed our wreath near it. We heard beautiful playing by the Brisbane Army Band, as well as emotional poems and touching speeches recited by students and others. I felt very grateful to attend this very special and moving event and learnt more about the stories and courageousness of the soldiers who fought for Australia and New Zealand.

Anzac Day Dawn Service
On Monday the 25th of April I had the pleasure of attending the Dawn Service at the Pine Rivers Bowls Club.  We listened to guest speakers, the Last Post, the Ode of Remembrance and we also laid our wreath at a wall with the names of fallen soldiers.  Lots of people came and many of them laid a wreath at the wall.  St Paul’s Army cadets were also at the Dawn Service, in uniform, paying their respects.  It was an honour to represent my school at this service.
