4/5E Youth Art Awards Entry

Zoe and Lauren with our art work.

4/5E recently entered the Pine Rivers Youth Art Awards with a class painting.  Afterwards, students wrote a recount of their journey to create it.

Lauren wrote ... 4/5E's painting entry for the Youth Art Awards 2014 is displaying at the Strathpine Community Centre.  It is called 'Universe', which is related to our term 3 science unit on space.  We weren't allowed to use any paintbrushes, so we used balloons, marbles, syringes, air pumps, toothbrushes and other items.  Everyone took part in our painting entry and it turned out great.  We didn't come any places, but we're glad we had the opportunity to enter.

Zoe wrote ... In term 3, my class created a 2D painting.  We painted the universe, only we didn't use any paintbrushes.  Instead, we used objects like balloons, marbles, syringes, toothbrushes and an air pump.  We used techniques like putting a toothbrush in paint and flicking the bristles to create specks of paint on the canvas.  We also used syringes to squirt out paint and make it look like an explosion.  Another thing we did was add glitter to some paint and put it on a balloon.  With that balloon, we then dabbed it onto the canvas and used the air pump to spread the paint.  Lastly we used the marbles by rolling them across the canvas.  This painting took us one day to complete and it is our interpretation of the universe.
